  1. 1. By General Council Members / Membership Committee.
  2. 2. Approved degree (such as QS, Construction Economics etc.).

Applicants are vetted by the Membership committee and references are taken up for everyone other than the students.

Associate – Generally apples to applicants as the first step of the professional tree. It can be likened to the old AMSST grade and generally will apply to those members still requiring to be monitored or supervised. To upgrade to member would require meeting the entry requirements, along with references from their employer and other evidence as deemed necessary by the Membership committee.

Member – Generally applies to those applicants who are technically and professionally competent. The grade is directly comparable to the MRICS and MCIOB grades. To upgrade to Fellow would require meeting the entry requirements, along with references from their employer if applicable and an interview if deemed necessary by the Membership committee.

Fellow – Generally applies to those applicants who are now in the management tier of the industry. Applicants references will be taken and where it is deemed necessary a further interview may be required by the membership committee.

Applications for upgrade must be made to the membership committee and only after the minimum requirements are met.
